A Supplement Plan that fits the most

Humana Medicare Supplement plans are one of the most popular choices among those receiving Medicare benefits. They’re known for the reliable customer service representatives as well as additional programs and resources. A Fortune 100 company, they’ve been providing supplement plans for over 20 years.

In most states, Medigap policies are labeled with letters A through N. The best plan for you depends on your particular needs. These plans are offered by private insurance companies, which have been previously approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This means they also have their own separate premiums.

Humana Medicare Supplement Plans

Humana is a health insurance company that provides a variety of services. Like other standardized plans, Humana Medicare Supplement insurance is labeled with specific letters.

Deciding which of these plans is the best fit may include a bit of research. Here is some information about the various plans to help make the decision easier.

Plans A & B

Supplement Plans A and B are extremely similar on the surface. They are both great plans for those who don’t have any immediate health concerns, but want security in case things take an unfortunate turn.

The idea is to avoid paying for what you don’t need. They include basic coverage Medicare Part A coinsurance for hospitalization, as well as an additional 365 days of inpatient care once Medicare Part B coinsurance and co-payments for outpatient services.

For more serious conditions, these supplement plans pay for the first three pints of blood and the Part A coinsurance for hospice care. The main thing that separates Plans A and B is the focus on hospital expenses. Supplement Plan B also covers the Medicare Part A deductible for hospitalization.

Plan C

Humana Medicare Supplement Plan C is different from the previous two plans. This particular plan costs a bit more, but it does cover more than the very basics. If you have the income and prefer predictable monthly expenses, this supplement may be for you.

Besides the same basic coverage as Humana Medicare Supplement Plans A and B, it also provides coverage for nursing facilities, Medicare Parts A and B deductibles, and emergency medical care for those traveling abroad.

This plan is perfect for those who want a plan that covers more medical expenses than those associated with hospitalization. However, these expenses are limited to Medicare-approved charges. So, if your doctor charges more than this amount, you’ll still be responsible for the additional out-of-pocket costs.

Humana Medicare Supplement Plan F & Plan G

Humana Medicare Supplemental health insurance plans also include plans that cover Medicare Part B excess charges. An excess charge refers to the difference between what providers charge and what Medicare will pay. Humana Medicare Supplement Plan F and G include the basic benefits.

However, they also have coverage for:

  • Skilled nursing facilities
  • Medicare Part A and B deductibles
  • Emergency care for traveling abroad
  • Part B excess charges.

There are a few specific things that differentiate these plans from one another.

First, Plan F has a high-deductible option for those who would prefer a lower premium. Unfortunately, this option is not available everywhere. Also, Humana Medicare Supplement Plan G doesn’t cover your Part B deductible. It’s important to remember these restrictions when deciding on a plan.

Humana Medicare Supplement Plans K, L, and N

These plans offer the same basic benefits as the other Medicare Supplement insurance plans, but they a have a much lower premium. However, in exchange for these more affordable premiums, beneficiaries are responsible for more of the cost-sharing. This means you’ll have set co-pays and must pay a specified portion of the coinsurance.

Plan K

Plan K Medicare Supplement covers 100% of Medicare Part A coinsurance plus an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are exhausted. It also pays 50% of hospice coverage, 50% of Medicare Part B coinsurance, and 50% of the first three pints of blood.

In addition to these benefits, Plan K includes:

  • 100% for preventative services
  • 50% coverage for skilled nursing facilities
  • Medicare Part A deductibles

The out-of-pocket limit is the most plan members must pay before the plan pays 100% of medical costs.

Plan L

Similar to Plan K, Medicare Supplement Plan L covers 100% of hospitalization coinsurance, preventative services, and an out-of-pocket limit. However, there are some notable differences. First, Plan L is a bit more expense. Also, it covers 75% of hospice care, the first three pints of blood, Medicare Part B coinsurance, skilled nursing facilities, and Medicare Part A deductibles.

Plan N

Humana’s Medicare Supplement Plan N provides more coverage than Plans K and L, but still has a lower premium than Plans A through G. Plan N includes the same basic benefits, except for a different co-pay for office visits as well as a different co-pay for ER visits. It also pays for nursing care, the Medicare Part A deductible, and emergency treatment when traveling abroad.
